Cooking Class - FAQs

What is the location of the class?

Cooking classes are held in Chef Kristin’s private kitchen (home business in a residential location).

Where should I park?

There is always plenty of street parking but feel free to pull right into our driveway.

What if I am late for class?

We encourage everyone to arrive 15 minutes early to get settled as class will start on time. If you know you’re going to be late, please try to notify us via phone (203.6767.2226) or email ( and we'll try our best to wait. 

What is the cancellation policy?

If you purchased your class or lesson from the Orange Kitchen website, you can cancel for a full refund up to 48 hours in advance of the class starting time. After that time, no refund or exchange will be offered as we will have lost the opportunity to fill your spot. To cancel please contact us via email ( or phone (203.767.2226).

Is there a minimum participation required per class?

Yes, each class must have at least (2) reservations for it be activated. We'll give you plenty of heads-up if the class doesn't meet this requirement, there are always other dates with activated classes or we would be happy to refund you.  

Are there any pre-requisites for taking this class?

Nah, no prior cooking experience is necessary. All cooking lesson and kitchen fundamentals that are necessary are included in the lesson/education portion of the agenda. You'll learn simple and fun recipes with traditional and emerging cooking techniques.

Who is the class instructor?

Classes are lead by the owner, Chef Kristin Smith

What should I wear to class?

Dress casual! You will be standing most of the time, so clothes and shoes that are comfortable are best. We will provide an apron for you to wear.

How long is class?

Most classes are ~3 hours.

Do we eat what we cook? Bring left-overs home?

Of course, many classes will end with a sit-down meal with everything you’ve prepared. Others may not have a sit-down meal but instead you will be given boxes to divide and take home the food or treats you made (for example baking classes or meal prep classes). 

What if I have a dietary restriction or allergy?

All good! Most of our classes are centered around dietary restrictions. Please email us ( any restrictions or allergies you might have as soon as possible before the class and we can to accommodate. While we are as cautious as possible with allergies and sensitivities, we cannot guarantee cross contamination will not occur (had to say it ... you know the deal).

Will we have a chance to take photos?

Yes! We will be taking some action shots while you cook and a group class photo. We also recently added a food photography area to the kitchen so you can take that Insta-ready photo of the final meal you cooked ... props, lighting and all!

We will share all photos within our post-class follow-up (including recipes, etc.). We'll also have a class hashtag on social media that everyone can post to.

Do you share class recipes?

Of course! You will be provided print-outs of the recipes in class to follow along and will receive digital copies of the recipes via email after class. 

Should we bring anything to class?

Nope! We will provide all the gear you need to learn and enjoy the class!

Do I need to take notes?

Feel free to take notes during class but we will send out an email after class that will include the agenda, menu, recipes, educational handouts (if applicable), photos, and any questions we capture on our "follow-up” board during class. This is to make sure we have plenty of time to complete our cooking and still get to answer all questions!
